I love photography, and I love to travel. Whenever I’m traveling, I take lots of photos.

I regularly share my photographs on photography and stock image sites such as Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay.

Some of my photos have been featured on Pexels, where I’ve received 7.4 million views.

On Unsplash, I’ve received 500k views. As of now, I have 76,000 downloads on Pexels and 7,000 downloads on Unsplash.

I started sharing my photos because of my love for photography and travel.

I also wanted to give back to these amazing platforms, as I often use Unsplash and Pexels to download copyright-free photos for my websites and creative projects. Medium also uses the Unsplash API, so that you can use Unsplash photographs directly on Medium.

I don’t earn directly from photography, but it indirectly helps me build backlinks for Inuidea.com, and it helps me grow my blog, social media, and personal brand online.

Most importantly, I feel happy when someone uses my photos to enhance their work.

My photos appeared on Wikipedia and even in a tweet by the Government of India. Sometimes, people use them in blog posts and on social media as well.

I also use them in my Medium articles and on Inuidea.com. They have been featured by Times of India, Condé Nast Traveller, and The Good Men Project.

Why do I share photos on Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay?

1. To distribute my work:

Pexels has over 18 million visitors per month, and Unsplash gets 13 billion photo impressions per month. When I share my photos on these platforms, they become accessible to millions of users searching for high-quality images.

2. To get featured:

I sometimes use Google Reverse Image Search to see where my photos are featured. It’s rewarding to see my images featured on top media websites. Sometimes, Pexels also sends notifications of how my images are being used, and people send thank-you notes as well.

3. To get backlinks for Inuidea.com and InuEtc.com:

Backlinks are one of the most important factors when it comes to SEO. You can read this blog post to learn more about backlinks. — 13 Ways of Link Building for Startups in 2024

Sometimes the websites that use my photos automatically give me credit without me asking, but I often send cold emails to other websites that use my photos, asking them to give me credit and link back to my website.

This is one of the easiest ways I get high quality do-follow backlinks for Inuidea.com.

4. To improve my skills:

By sharing my photos on public platforms, I can see which of my photos get the most views and receive direct feedback from photography enthusiasts.

This helps me understand market demand—what people and brands are looking for—and allows me to take even better photos in the future.

5. To get inspired:

Seeing the number of views, downloads, and likes my photos receive, and knowing they reach millions of people worldwide, is inspiring. Positive feedback from the community and getting featured in top media outlets also motivates me to keep improving.
