Today, I’m going to show how to increase your blog traffic.

I’ve a proven track record of growing multiple blogs to thousands of visitors.

Below, I’m going to share the exact strategies that I used to increase blog traffic.

Let’s dive in.

1. Target low competitive keywords

Many bloggers go after popular keywords, thinking more search volume means more traffic. But that’s not how SEO works.

Because if a keyword has a high monthly search volume, chances are it’s a competitive keyword.

You need to rank on the first page to actually get visitors, and that’s very hard to do with competitive keywords.

The more competitive a keyword is, the harder it is to rank for.

If your website isn’t getting traffic, start targeting long-tail and low-competitive keywords.

They have less competition, so you can rank faster.

Plus, long tail keywords convert better than short and mid tail keywords.

You can find long tail keywords using:

  1. Keyword research tools like Semrush or Ahrefs
  2. Google Autocomplete
  3. AnswerThePublic
  4. Reddit

2. Add internal links

Having a strategic internal linking approach can help both users and search engines find your web pages.

Internal linking can help you pass the link authority from high authority to low authority pages.

When you’re writing new content, you should add links to relevant pages. And go back to your old pages and add the new links.

Make sure to add keywords in the anchor texts.

Interlinking is an underutilized SEO strategy. When you interlink your relevant pages, you’ll see a boost in your blog traffic.

You can see how Inu added interlinks on this freelancing guide.

3. Create amazing content

Now, anyone can create content using AI tools. If you want to stand out, you need to create amazing content.

You need to level your writing.

Ask yourself how you can differentiate yourself from others.

First, analyze your competitors. Check their blogs to find what type of content they’re publishing.

Feel free to check out blogs in other niches.

Here are some tips to create amazing content:

  • Write from your experience
  • Add case studies
  • Use statistics and data
  • Conduct surveys using SurveyMonkey
  • Include images, infographics, and videos

4. Build backlinks to your website

Backlinks are important to rank higher on Google and increase your blog traffic. An Ahrefs study found that there’s a clear correlation between the number of websites linking to a page and its traffic.

pages-with-more-backlinks-get-more-traffic

You need to build links to your website. Make sure the links come from authoritative and relevant websites.

I’ve shared some effective link-building techniques below.

Use guest posts to build links

Guest post is the practice of publishing posts on someone else’s website.

Some blogs allow a do-follow link in the guest post. Some allow only links in the author bio.

If a site is well-known and authoritative, an author bio link can be helpful as well.

Guest posting can help you build your personal brand as well.

You need to find relevant websites where you can publish guest posts. And then pitch your ideas.

You can find guest posts by searching these search strings:

  • Your keyword “guest post”
  • Your keyword “write for us”
  • Your keyword “submit post”
  • Your keyword “submit blog post”
  • Your keyword “guest article”
  • Your keyword “guest post opportunities”
  • Your keyword “contributing writer”
  • Your keyword “submit your content”

Replace keywords with your topic. And you’ll have a handful of guest post websites where you can publish guest posts.

Here’s how:

guest-post

Now, you need to write a solid pitch they can’t ignore. You need to personalize the pitch.

Before pitching, read their writing guidelines and 5-10 blog posts to understand their idea.

Once you come up with some content ideas, write a solid pitch.

Here’s a sample pitch.

Fix broken links to build backlinks

Broken link building is about finding broken links and offering to replace your page as an alternative.

Nobody wants a broken link on their website. So they might replace the broken link with your page.

It’s an effective and easy link-building technique.

First, you need to find a competitor’s website using a tool like Semrush, Dr Link Check, or Check My Links.

If you don’t know who your competitors are, just Google your topic and analyze the SERP.

Or you can put your website on Semrush to find the competitors.

Enter your domain. And switch to the “Competitors” tab. It will show you the competitors.

After finding the broken links, you need to reach out to the website owners/blog editor to replace the broken links with your blog posts.

Here’s the broken link email template:

Subject: Broken link on [Blog Name]

5. Use Pinterest

Pinterest is a visual search engine and discovery platform. Users can find, save, and curate ideas like recipes, home decor, fashion, and travel.

Pinterest is one of the most popular websites in the world. According to Similarweb, pinterest.com receives 1.429 billion monthly visits.

Pinterest has a huge audience base. You can use it to drive relevant traffic to your blog.

If you want to drive traffic to your website using Pinterest, you can check out these actionable tips to increase your organic traffic to your website through Pinterest.

6.Write attention-grabbing headlines

Writing awesome headlines is super important. Because headlines are the first thing readers notice.

Based on the headline, they’re going to decide if they’ll read the blog post or not.

Copyblogger found that, on average, 8 out of 10 people will read headline copy. Only 2 out of 10 will read the rest.

Yes, a headline is that important.

You should spend more time writing your headlines.

Come up with multiple headlines for each blog post. Then choose one that is good enough to catch your readers’ attention.

Try to write a headline like this:

Here are some tips to write headlines:

  • It should resonate with your target audience
  • Show the clear benefit
  • Make it specific
  • Use keyword in the title
  • Make your audience curious

You can use a headline analyzer to analyze your headline.

7. Create content around trending topics

If you’re a new blogger and want to boost your blog’s organic traffic, target trending keywords.

Why?

Because trending keywords are far less competitive. As these keywords are new, not many people are going after these keywords.

You can easily rank for these keywords.

You need to find trendy topics in your industry and write around that topic.

Here’s how you can find trending keywords.

You can use Google Trends.

You can also use X (Twitter) to find what’s trending in your industry.

8. Update your existing posts

Many bloggers and content marketers focus more on creating new content. But not many of them take time to update their old content.

And that’s a mistake.

Updating old content can help you significantly increase your blog traffic.

If a post performed well in the past, chances are it can rank higher again on the first page.

You just need to update the old posts.

Updating a post doesn’t mean just adding a few sentences. You need to really update with the latest content.

Don’t hesitate to rewrite the whole post.

Some tips to update your old blog posts:

  • Add fresh content with the latest data and statistics
  • Include relevant keywords
  • Check if you’ve any broken links on the page
  • Update all outbound links
  • Add new internal links
  • Add images, infographics, and videos

9. Publish consistently

Publishing content consistently can help you increase your blog traffic. When you create new content, you target new keywords on each page.

It increases your chance of ranking higher on Google and other search engines.

Having a consistent publishing schedule can help you improve crawlability. If you publish once a month, search engine bots like Googlebot crawl your website twice a month,

And if you publish 2-3 times per week, search engine bots learn to return and crawl frequently. It helps index your new content and updates within hours rather than weeks.

When you stick to a consistent publishing schedule, you’re naturally setting yourself up to build a solid structure of internal links.

You can create a content calendar using Google Sheets. It can help you stick to your schedule.

10. Be a guest on relevant podcasts

Podcasts are growing like crazy. As of April 2026, there are nearly 4 million podcasts worldwide.

According to Statista, the number of podcast listeners is estimated to surpass 770 million in 2030.

Going on podcasts helps build authority. People start taking you seriously. They might start searching for your name or your brand name.

Now there are podcasts on almost every industry. You need to find some relevant podcasts.

And then write an email showing interest in becoming a guest on their podcast.

You can also get a backlink.

Here’s an example:

A while ago, Spencer Haws (nichepursuits.com) appeared on the Smart Passive Income podcast.

Here’s an email template that you can use:

11. Write answers on Quora

Quora is a question and answer platform. You can find questions in any given topic under the sun.

You can answer questions that other people are asking.

By answering relevant questions, you can build authority in your niche. Try to help your audience genuinely.

Write answers only if you’ve experience in the topic you’re writing.

I write about SEO, blogging, content marketing, copywriting, and freelancing on Quora. Because I’ve first-hand experience in these topics.

I searched for “seo”. You can see people are asking many questions related to SEO.

quora

I’ve answered many questions on Quora. Because I keep answering on Quora, I’ve got around 10k content views.

Search for your topic and start answering questions.

Initially, you need to write an answer without adding any links to your website to build credibility.

You need to provide value.

When you find a relevant question, you can add your website or paste your whole post. It will drive relevant traffic to your website.

12. Reach out to influencers

You can reach out to well-known bloggers with an existing audience. And ask them to share your content.

They can help you get a boost in traffic.

Plus, you can get exposed to a new set of audiences.

Sounds good, right?

It’s not that easy.

First, you need to build a relationship with bloggers and influencers before asking them to share your content.

Make a list of influencers in your industry.

Read their content. Send them an honest appreciation email.

Many of them will ignore your emails. And that’s okay.

You just need a few of them to reply and share your content.

Don’t jump straight into asking them to share your content right after they reply.

Keep it natural.

If you’re writing a blog post that you think can be valuable to their audience, send an email saying you’ve just published a blog post.

If your content is amazing, they’ll share your blog post with their audience.

Here’s an email template:

Subject: Quick heads-up on a new [Topic] piece

Hey [Name],

I just published a new deep dive that digs into [1-sentence unique angle or takeaway], and I immediately thought of our previous conversations about this.

You can check out the post here: [Your Post Title/Link].

13. Create a Facebook page

According to Statista, Facebook has over 3 billion monthly active users. It can drive a good amount of traffic, if you’ve a decent amount of followers.

Semrush has a good amount of followers on Facebook.

Whenever they publish or update content, they share it on their Facebook page.

You can try sharing your content on your Facebook page.

14. Publish videos on YouTube

YouTube is the second-largest search engine with over 2.58 billion active users.

It’s a huge number. You don’t want to miss this large audience.

If you’re comfortable recording videos, you can create videos around your topic. You can repurpose your blog post into videos.

You can use your blog post as your video script.

Plus, making YouTube can be another revenue stream as well.

Ryan Robinson is a popular blogger. He gets a lot of views on his blog.

But still he creates videos on YouTube. You can see how he linked his blog post.

15. Build an email list

If you’re a blogger and not building an email list, you’re missing out.

You don’t own your blog reader. You don’t own your social media followers. You don’t own your Youtube subscribers.

You can lose them any time.

But if you build an email list, you can own your audience.

No algorithm update can change that.

And you can’t lose them like YouTube subscribers.

But building an email list is not easy. Now people hesitate to provide their email addresses.

You need to offer something really valuable to build your email list. Offer something for free that people are charging for.

Adam Enfroy is offering a free course to launch and grow a business with AI. You can see Adam has 130,000+ email subscribers.

16. Use LinkedIn to promote your content

LinkedIn is a social media site for professionals. Many decision makers hang out on LinkedIn.

So you’ll get high-quality traffic to your blog.

You need to create content on LinkedIn to drive traffic to your blog.

You can repurpose your blog posts on LinkedIn and include a link.

Here you can see Search Engine Land shared an article.

17. Share your content on X (Twitter)

X is not as effective as it used to be. Now X is full of ghostwriters and so-called influencers.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t use X to get traffic to your website.

Still, there are some legit bloggers and content marketers who use X.

You don’t need a million followers to get results. A few hundred followers can help you get a decent amount of traffic.

Find some bloggers in your niche and engage with their content on a consistent basis. This way, you can get in front of their audience.

You can buy the X premium subscription. It will help you grow faster and build trust.
