I did the Dzukou Valley Trek in 2022.
Again in 2024, I visited with my friend but lost our way in the jungle.
We had to spend the night camping in the midst of the forest, and in the morning, a group of local guides arrived and rescued us.
For me, it felt like a near-death experience, camping deep inside the forest without water or food, but at the same time, it also taught me a lot.
Since then, I wanted to go back to Dzukou Valley and complete the trek successfully.

So, on 5th July 2023, my bro and travel partner Nashir, some friends, and I started the journey.
We went to Kamakhya Junction (KYQ) in Guwahati and then reached Dimapur Railway Station (DMV) via the Avadh Assam Express at 8 AM on 6th July.
From there, our driver took us to Hills Homestay in Kigwema Village. On the way, we got stuck for almost three hours because of a landslide.
We spent the night at Hills Homestay, a beautiful place surrounded by mountains and flowers. The room was clean, the food was great, and the hospitality was amazing.
The next morning (7th July), we started the trek via the Viswema route. It took us more than 4 hours to reach the base camp. We pitched our tent and took some rest.

We planned to explore the valley in the evening, but it was raining, and we were tired and hungry.
So, we rested and had dinner. After dinner, we went to the watchtower and played music, thanks to Spotify offline.
There was no network, so after listening to music, we went back to our tent and slipped into our sleeping bags.
The next morning (8th July), it was still raining, but we decided to explore the valley anyway after breakfast.

We wore our raincoats and went to the beautiful valley to shoot videos and click some photos. Even though it was raining a bit, we enjoyed it, and got some great shots.

I don’t wanna say a lot about Dzukou Valley, but I wanna say just one thing — Dzukou Valley Trek is my all-time favorite trek, and it’s one of the most beautiful and unique places in the world. Just see the photos attached to this post.

After clicking photos, we returned to the basecamp, and our guide Zhopovito, who’s also the co-founder of our travel company, Travelestify, told us that we should head back to the homestay now.
We started our return trek at 11 AM, and once again, it took us more than 3 hours to reach the homestay. This time, our shoes were completely wet and dirty.
We went to the homestay, had our lunch there, and took some rest.
Our driver came at 5:30 PM. We had our return train to Guwahati from Dimapur at 10:30 PM. So, we went to the station.
On the way, from Kohima, I bought a pair of slippers because I couldn’t wear my shoes.
In the end, we were happy, we created memories for life.
It was a great experience.
For me, it was even more special because last time, it was a completely different and horrible experience. I wanted to experience the best too, and finally, I did.
